When living in Phoenix with cooler, I would take a nap by 2 pm with the kids. I had on a whole piece bathing suit with long t shirt cover thing. I would get wet with the hose, like I did when at home; then would lie down with it still damp. Had a fan going with noise machine..We'd all crash for 2-3 hours daily..The heat with swamp cooler just drained us. Now I'm in cooler climate where its still getting cool at night, that we aren't using the ac.

I remember my high school chemistry teacher drilling it into us to never drink ice water, especially in the summer. It makes your body work overtime trying to warm up the water (ice water makes your body think that your are freezing) thereby raising your core temp. So in fact it is doing the opposite of what you think it's doing. Room temperature water is best!!!

The best place to go to cool off is in your basement. Fans only make you hotter in my opinion. Growing up my family didn't have any air conditioners in our house or cars. It was like living in hell during the summer!
